This allows for a much greater degree of creative input although, this feature does not extend to the level editor of the arcade game itself, nor does it extend to any of the features of the basic MegaSparkite game engine. To facilitate this, the program contains a level editor which allows users to build and edit levels. Although the story mode of the game is simply a sequence of pre-chosen random events, players can influence and manipulate the outcome of the game by changing the initial set of circumstances.
In addition to this, the program also provides two modes of play: Story mode and Endless mode. In addition to being visually identical to those games, the main feature of DX-Ball is that it includes a programming language, CTSPGames Basic, which allows users to program the various features of the game (such as the winning sequence and game ending).
